What are the Benefits of Rope Access Cleaning?

Just some of the benefits of rope access cleaning include:

  • It gets the job done quickly – If you need building cleaning at short notice, rope access cleaning is a brilliant option. Unlike scaffolding which takes time to erect, and needs licensing and permits, abseil cleaning is quick and easy to set up.
  • It’s affordable – As rope access cleaning is far quicker than alternative methods, it means it’s also much cheaper.
  • It’s unobtrusive – Some cleaning methods (like those that require scaffolding) can be disruptive to your business. Rope access cleaning is silent and can be set up easily. So, there’s no disruption to clients or employees inside the building.
  • It’s safe – Rope access cleaning is far safer than other window cleaning methods. Unlike using ladders or platforms, specialist rope access cleaning helps prevent unnecessary falls and accidents.
  • It doesn’t take up space at ground level – If space is at a premium, abseil cleaning might be the answer you’ve been looking for. A rope access cleaning doesn’t take up space at ground level, you don’t need to worry about equipment taking up valuable space that could be better utilised.
  • It offers a better result – As abseil cleaning can get where scaffolding and other platforms can’t, it means you’ll always get a better end result when you opt for rope access cleaning.

Rope Access

Rope Access Cleaning Services FAQs

Also referred to as ‘abseil cleaning’, rope access cleaning is a high-level cleaning method.

Used to safely reach and clean the highest windows or tricky building facades, rope access cleaning is a technique that uses specialist ropes and harnesses to suspend cleaners in the air.

During rope access cleaning, skilled technicians anchor themselves to the roof of a building (or the top of a structure) and abseil down the side. They will clean the building or windows as they pass down. As abseil cleaners are secured with a harness and rope – and not confined to scaffolding boards – they can move freely across the building.

This means that rope access cleaning can be used to guarantee a thorough clean of those hard-to-reach spots.

To safely provide rope access services, you must gain a certification awarded by the Industrial Rope Access Trade Association (IRATA).

The IRATA rope access technique was initially created to clean oil rigs but is now used in a wide range of industries.

IRATA is built upon a strict Code of Ethics and as such, it sets out exemplary standards of behaviour and conduct required of anyone providing rope access services. This means you can be sure that if a cleaner is IRATA-certified, they’re providing safe services.

IRATA have three levels of qualification.

  • Level One allows staff to carry out rope access tasks under supervision
  • Level Two covers more advanced rope-handling techniques
  • Level Three is the most advanced and allows a person to be responsible for an entire rope access operation

At APT-ICC, all our abseil cleaning staff are expertly trained and hold IRATA qualifications as we know that safety is paramount when working onsite and at height. All our staff retrain every 3 years to ensure best practice is always followed.

To learn more about our qualifications and accreditations, get in touch today.

The IRATA two-rope, fail-safe method has solved many building cleaning problems worldwide. As rope access is a way of reaching tricky areas, rope access cleaning can be used for all matter of building.

From bridges and skyscrapers to confined spaces, there aren’t many jobs that are too difficult for our team of expert abseil cleaners.

Just some of the buildings our rope access cleaning team have tackled include:

  • High office blocks
  • City skyscrapers
  • Factories and other commercial buildings
  • Apartment blocks
  • Shopping centres and atriums
  • Historical buildings and church towers
  • University buildings
  • Schools
  • Hospitals

If you’re not sure whether your building is a suitable candidate for rope access cleaning, get in touch with our experts. Our team will be more than happy to answer any questions you have and advise on the best, safest and most cost-effective building cleaning solution.

Yes, it is. Although it might look terrifying to see someone suspended up a building, rope access cleaning is one of the safest and most reliable methods of cleaning.

At APT, our teams come prepared with the specialist equipment required and are trained to an incredibly high standard. This, combined with over 30 years of practical experience, means we’re one of the UK’s top rope access cleaning companies.

This skill, expertise and level of care mean we can guarantee our standard of cleaning is unparalleled.

As rope access cleaning is so specialist, it’s a common misconception that it’s also expensive.

It isn’t.

As rope access cleaning is quick to set up, it’s a much more affordable option than scaffolding. As it causes minimal disruption to the occupants of the building, it’s also beneficial as you don’t need to shut the premises down for cleaning, leading to further cost savings.

How much abseil cleaning costs depends on a few factors including the size of your building and how easy it is to reach the area.

This is why all our rope access cleaning services start with a consultation. During this, we’ll advise you on the best possible high-level cleaning approach and how much it’s going to cost.
